Isabel Miramontes

Isabel Miramontes was born in Santiago de Compostela, Spain and grew up in Belgium where she obtained a diploma in Fine Arts at the institute of Saint-Marie. She continued her training at the Academy of Fine Arts of St. Gilles, in the studio of Patrick Pouillart, where she acquired a solid experience on working with human silhouette and perfected life model study. With a tutorial background in 1994 she decided sculpture to be her form of artistic expression."It is not me, who went after the sculpture, that it came to me was obvious. It was instant” She said. Her work is very mature and powerful and exude with astonishing synthesis of forms. Artist’s visual language represents the androgynous human being in all the ambiguity of its power and fragility. Looking at Miramontes bronze figures we are getting enchanted by powerful calmness and silent emotion captured inside every sculpted motion.
